Megget Reservoir

At Megget Reservoir, we carried out grouting trials preparatory to the upgrading of the rip-rap upstream face:

• Concern was expressed over the effectiveness of the works on the upper areas – might it be reduced in time by mastic creeping down the slope?
• To ensure confidence in the product, a test box was devised to assess the effect of elevated temperatures on the construction over several months. The trial showed movement to be restricted to the top few millimetres of mastic only.
